She loves surfing, biking, traveling, baseball and spending time with family and friends.
Curtis has been mostly an observer of his wife Jackie exceling in playing the steel pan. Finally he realized if you cant beat ‘em, join ‘em. Curtis has now been playing the double seconds pans since 2017. The pan brings a lot of joy to those who play. When not beating on his pans, Curtis runs a swimming pool contracting business in Hawaii and is also a pilot of 48 years. Curtis flew for the airlines for 22 years & curently flys a new CJ4 Cessna Citatation jet for a private company coast to coast as a cool retirement job. Curtis & Jackie surf, ride bicycles and fly themselves on adventures in their C414 aircraft. Curtis’s favorite saying is “if not now, when?"
Amie began playing the tenor steel pan in 2015 after seeing Kainga Music Steel Band perform at a music festival. She thought it looked fun, signed up for a lesson, and has been playing steel pan ever since. Amie also enjoys playing the ukulele and bass ukulele with several groups. In addition to playing music, she books entertainment for a local Hawaiian restaurant and is a volunteer at the Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, CA. Amie previously lived in the Bay Area, but now happily resides in Carlsbad playing the two happiest instruments....steel pan and ukulele
